The Accredited Commercial Manager (ACoM) is an early-career certification from the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM), designed for property managers building a career in commercial or mixed-use real estate. It pairs two foundational courses — Ethics for the Real Estate Manager (ETH800) and Managing Mixed-Use Properties (MXD201) — with a certification exam and a documented year of qualifying management experience. The ACoM curriculum covers the full scope of the role: fiduciary and financial fundamentals, leasing and tenant relations, property maintenance and risk management, staff leadership, and the professional ethics that underpin every decision a manager makes. Earning the ACoM signals to employers and owners that a manager has mastered the core competencies of commercial property management and is ready to take on greater responsibility. For managers who plan to continue their career, the ACoM also serves as an entry point toward IREM's Certified Property Manager (CPM) designation.
What You’ll Learn:
Apply fiduciary, accounting, and budgeting principles to protect and grow an owner's investment
Attract, lease to, and retain the right tenant mix across commercial or mixed-use space
Build tenant and community relationships that support long-term retention and reputation
Develop maintenance, inspection, and risk-management programs for the physical property
Recruit, lead, and manage a property team, and administer the management office

Prerequisites
None to begin the coursework. A minimum of one year (12 months) of qualifying commercial or mixed-use property management experience is required before the ACoM designation can be awarded.

Muhammad Jawad-Ur-Rehman is a distinguished real estate professional with over 15 years of leadership experience across the UAE, specialising in property, asset, and community management for residential, commercial, and branded developments. He holds the distinction of being the first Certified Property Manager (CPM®) in the Middle East, a designation awarded by the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM®) in the United States, and is a Professional Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS). Currently serving as Senior Manager – Property & Asset Management at IMKAN Properties, Jawad oversees the full lifecycle of residential and mixed-use assets — from strategic planning and vendor procurement through to day-to-day operations — while actively contributing to the design and operational readiness of the SHA Branded Residences project. As President of the IREM UAE Chapter (2025–2026) and a member of the IREM Governing Council (2024–2026), he plays a leading role in elevating professional standards across the real estate industry in the UAE and the wider MENA region.
